Campus Clash is Emerson's best and brightest game show that joins Emerson College Organizations together through fun, friendly competition. Contestants have a chance to win $300 for their group by making it to the finale episode, which they can do as long as they are good at guessing the answers to questions polled originally from Emerson students themselves! Created, pitched, and produced in the Spring of 2016. "Campus Clash" has four total episodes, consisting of three preliminary competitions and a finale. It has earned an EVVY for Best Studio Television Production, as well as a Bronze Telly for Student Production.
Campus Clash was a crazy project from start to finish. We had the intent to make a "Family Feud" esque game show, but to give it more stakes than normal Emerson College television shows, and I think we we successful! We brought six different student government organizations on board, with the promise of a cash prize. We had to rewrite a control room workflow that worked with a free-flowing, game show format (which proved to be much harder than expected). Lyrics Chyron, our studio graphics system, was pushed to it's limits, and crashed a few times along the way, to display our interactive score board and game screen that could be updated live. One of our biggest challenges was the integration of our buzzer systems, contestant answers, and studio lighting board to make the use of dynamic lighting throughout the show. If you have a time to watch all the episodes (linked below), you can watch as our techniques improved throughout the semester.
